Rainbow Spectra v.2.0.0 is the 2nd rendition of a mixed reality installation that transcends traditional sensory boundaries by incorporating virtual reality (VR) with multi-sensory elements. This immersive installation aims to generate synthetic phenomenological experiences, engaging participants on multiple levels to evoke a unique sense of presence and connection.

The installation features a VR environment where participants wear head-mounted displays (HMDs) to enter a digitally crafted world. Within this virtual space, viewers encounter a spectrum of colors in a meditative landscape. Dynamic projections on surrounding surfaces enhance the environment, blurring the lines between the digital and physical realms.

To enrich the sensory experience, Rainbow Spectra v.2.0.0 incorporates four-channel pink noise, adding a layer of ambient sound that envelops the viewer. The soundscape’s subtle variations in frequency create a calming yet immersive auditory experience. Additionally, scent diffusers release essential oils, introducing an olfactory dimension that complements the visual and auditory elements. Tactile components such as bean bags invite viewers to physically interact with the installation, further enhancing the immersive quality.

By integrating these various sensory inputs, Rainbow Spectra v.2.0.0 explores the potential for generating phenomenological experiences—moments of embodied awareness that transcend traditional modes of perception. The installation challenges viewers to reconsider their relationship with technology and the ways in which digital environments can evoke deep, meaningful experiences.
