Forest: yours and mine, 2016 [Link]
Single-channel video, colored lights, discarded cardboard and Styrofoam, speakers.
Dimensions variable.
This multimedia light installation repurposes discarded cardboard and Styrofoam to address contemporary disposable culture. It invites viewers to stroll through an artificially created forest and participate in shadow play, offering an immersive experience.
Rather than imposing a unidirectional criticism, the installation takes a nuanced approach, encouraging viewers to reflect on the beauty of walking through a forest—a natural wonder often destroyed for human consumption. Ironically, the objects used are disposable packaging for consumer goods.
By utilizing discarded materials, the installation highlights the environmental impact of disposable culture and prompts viewers to contemplate their own role in contributing to this issue. The immersive experience of walking through the installation and participating in the shadow play fosters an interactive and engaging dialogue between the viewer and the artwork, encouraging introspection and reflection.
