Pluritopia: Non-Lucid Clouds, 2022 (in collaboration with Urich Lau & Avik)

Virtual Reality (built on VR Chat)
Continuous run.

Pluritopia is a part of the joint initiative between the National Arts Council Singapore (NAC) and the Arts Council Korea (ARKO) under the signed Memorandum of Understanding in promoting arts and culture exchange between artists, creatives and technologists of the two nations. Pluritopia – produced and curated by Spang & Lei, is centred on the idea of pluralism. Pluritopia is a portmanteau from “plural” and “universe”; where multiple universes exist, collide, and merge. Pluritopia aims to address the current “crisis” & post-pandemic art and technology landscape through a multi-tier Cloud platform.
It was organized as the first Metaverse Biennale on the metaver platform, VR Chat.
The metaverse platform allowed for virtual gatherings and collaborations among artists and viewers who gathered together as funky avatars.

Non-Lucid Clouds is a collaborative project with Urich Lau (LiDAR scanning) and Avik (sound design). The artists created a virtual place for gathering that blurs the boundary between two locales, Seoul and Singapore by using fractured LiDAR scans of these cities that seem to melt into each other. The artists gave tours and artist talks of their virtual spaces on the VR Chat platform during the Launch Party.
